“Hidden Camera Confession: Husband Imprisoned for Wife’s Murder”

A father confessed to a paramedic while next to his deceased wife, who had a knife in her chest. Stephen Mooney is now imprisoned in Mountjoy and is facing his first Christmas behind bars as a life-sentence inmate after admitting to murdering his wife, Anna Mooney, at their home in Kilbarrack, Dublin. He recorded her final moments using a hidden camera to uncover her phone PIN due to suspicions of infidelity.

Despite his silence about the incident to other prisoners, sources indicate that Mooney is burdened with guilt. Following the fatal stabbing, he called emergency services, revealing his actions and expressing remorse for the situation. Mooney, previously a real estate agent with a clean record, recounted the events leading to the tragedy, mentioning his wife’s alleged affair.

Initially, Mooney pleaded guilty to manslaughter, but an audio recording of the stabbing surfaced, leading to a murder charge. The recording did not capture the actual murder but showed Mooney cleaning up after the incident. A post-mortem examination detailed the fatal injuries suffered by Anna, including a stab wound to her heart, diaphragm, and abdomen, as well as additional wounds.

Mooney and Anna married in 2005 after moving from Ukraine to Ireland and had two children. During court proceedings, it was revealed that Anna was involved with a man in Germany. Apologizing to the victim’s family, Mooney expressed deep regret for his actions and the pain he caused. Sentenced to life in prison, he extended apologies to his children and hoped for forgiveness in the future.
