Samsung has officially ceased support for three older Galaxy phone models, meaning they will no longer receive essential software updates. The Galaxy S21, Galaxy S21 Plus, and Galaxy S21 Ultra have been removed from Samsung’s list of supported devices for receiving security patches. While manufacturers typically provide security updates even after main Android version updates end, it appears that the S21 series will not be receiving any new system updates. Owners of these phones, released in 2021, may want to consider upgrading for enhanced security.
Initially, Samsung had promised four years of Android updates and five years of security updates for the S21 series, but these commitments have now expired in 2026. The newer Galaxy S models, like the latest Galaxy S25, now boast seven years of Android and security updates, providing extended device longevity.
However, the Galaxy S21 FE continues to receive quarterly security updates and is expected to do so for at least another year. For those contemplating an upgrade, it might be prudent to wait as Samsung is anticipated to unveil the Galaxy S26 series soon, possibly as early as February 25. The new series is rumored to feature improvements such as a faster processor, enhanced camera capabilities, sleeker design, and better battery life.
Mirror Online will keep a close watch on the latest Samsung developments and provide updates on any new launches.
