A tragic incident occurred in Tadcaster as a teenage girl lost her life in a minibus collision, leaving another girl injured and hospitalized. The North Yorkshire Police responded swiftly to the scene where a minibus, carrying nine passengers aged 16 to 18, collided with a Hyundai car.
The unfortunate fatality took place on Toulston Lane when the minibus and the car crashed, resulting in the death of one teenage girl at the scene. Emergency services transported another girl to the hospital for treatment of her injuries, which are reported as non-life-threatening. The remaining passengers and the minibus driver were also taken to the hospital for minor injuries.
In connection with the investigation, the driver of the car has been detained, according to YorkshireLive. Toulston Lane has been closed to traffic as the police continue their inquiries, urging anyone with pertinent information to come forward.
A police spokesperson stated, “North Yorkshire Police is investigating the tragic death of a teenage girl involved in a collision between a minibus and a car at Tadcaster. The incident occurred on Toulston Lane, at the junction with Rudgate, around 12.28pm on Monday, December 1, 2025.
The minibus, a white Mercedes Sprinter carrying passengers aged 16 to 18, was en route to Sherburn when it collided with a light-colored Hyundai i10 entering Toulston Lane from Rudgate. While one girl tragically lost her life at the scene, another girl, with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, was taken to the hospital by ambulance.
The other passengers and the minibus driver received treatment for minor injuries at the hospital. The 40-year-old female driver of the Hyundai has been arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation.
As police inquiries persist, Toulston Lane remains inaccessible to traffic. Witnesses or motorists possessing relevant dashcam footage are urged to step forward promptly.
