Violent Disturbance in Altrincham Leaves Four Injured

Four individuals sustained injuries, with two in critical condition, following a disturbance in a town center. Police cordoned off Railway Street in Altrincham after reports of violence early Sunday morning. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that two men sustained serious injuries and were hospitalized.

A man in his 20s suffered facial injuries believed to be life-altering, while a 21-year-old man sustained a chest wound and is in serious but stable condition. Additionally, a 51-year-old man and a 52-year-old woman sustained minor injuries during the altercation.

A 24-year-old man has been apprehended on suspicion of attempted murder and Section 18 assault. Railway Street and adjacent roads remain closed, impacting several businesses in Altrincham town center due to the ongoing police probe.

Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Dixon urged witnesses of the altercation on Railway Street or those who saw a white male in his 20s running towards Altrincham Interchange to come forward. Councillor Michael Welton of the Trafford Green Party expressed sympathy for the victims and emergency responders, emphasizing the community’s concern and the impact on local businesses.
