Manchester United is set to hold its Christmas party for 2025 after it was reportedly given approval, following the cancellation of last year’s event by Sir Jim Ratcliffe. The decision to halt the festivities in the previous year was made due to cost-cutting measures after 250 jobs were eliminated, saving the club over £100,000, with the annual staff bonus replaced by a £40 voucher from M&S.
According to reports from the Daily Mail, staff members at Manchester United will now have the chance to enjoy the holiday season this year, with Chief Executive Omar Berrada extending invitations to all employees for the upcoming Christmas event. The party will take place in one of the larger suites at Old Trafford, featuring food and musical entertainment for the attendees.
The recent developments come after changes in the club’s hierarchy following Ineos’ minority takeover, which led to an additional 200 job cuts, reducing the workforce from 1,150 to 700 and resulting in substantial cost savings for the club.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe discussed the restructuring efforts and financial challenges faced by Manchester United during an interview with BBC and Sky Sports earlier this year. He emphasized the importance of implementing cost-saving measures to ensure the club’s financial stability and ability to invest in the squad for better results and success on the field.
Ratcliffe highlighted the club’s need to balance operating costs with squad investment, emphasizing the goal of Manchester United to compete for trophies by investing in top players rather than unnecessary expenses.
As the club navigates through a period of transition and restructuring, the focus remains on financial stability and strategic planning to secure a successful future for Manchester United.
