“Tragic Discovery: Man’s Body Found in Royton House Fire”

A tragic discovery was made today as emergency services responded to a house fire in Heyside, Royton. The incident occurred early this morning at Marches Close, just off Oldham Road, with Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirming the recovery of a man’s body at the scene around 6am.

According to a GMP spokesperson, the authorities received a call about the fire at a property in Royton at approximately 6am on December 3, 2025. Sadly, a man was found deceased inside the premises. Investigations are currently underway to determine the cause of the fire.

The area has been cordoned off by the police, and forensic teams are actively conducting examinations, as reported by the Manchester Evening News. The Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service dispatched three fire engines from Oldham, Hollins, and Chadderton, along with the turntable ladder from Manchester Central fire station, to respond to the fire incident at a detached bungalow on Marches Close, Royton, at 5.35am on December 3.

Firefighters in breathing apparatus utilized three hose reel jets to extinguish the flames, with emergency crews and partners still present at the site to ensure safety measures are in place.
