“Former NJ Police Officer Confesses to Violent Break-In”

A former New Jersey police officer, Rebecca Sayegh, aged 32, has confessed to breaking into her ex-boyfriend’s residence in April. The Berkeley Township Police Department responded to a domestic disturbance call at 11:20 pm on April 25th. Sayegh used her baton to force entry, confronting her ex-boyfriend and his new partner. The off-duty officer, who had previously lived with her ex for five years, engaged in a physical altercation with the couple, causing damage to their property.

Despite their attempts to restrain her, Sayegh managed to break free and proceeded to vandalize the home and the victim’s car. The situation escalated when the new girlfriend sought refuge in the backyard and called the police. Sayegh resisted arrest and even tried to fight with the responding officers.

During the incident, Sayegh threatened to set her ex-boyfriend’s home on fire as she was being taken into custody. The damage caused amounted to approximately $2,000 to the residence and $500 to the vehicle. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office revealed that Sayegh had forcibly entered the property and damaged the victim’s car before being apprehended.

Following a guilty plea at the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, Sayegh relinquished her position at the Toms River Township Police Department and any prospects of future public employment in New Jersey. She is scheduled to be sentenced on January 26 next year. Sayegh’s guilty plea followed a lawsuit she filed against the department and township for alleged sexual harassment and gender discrimination.
