This weekend, Greene King is offering complimentary pints of Guinness to coincide with the start of the Six Nations rugby tournament. To receive your free pint, simply reserve a table for any Six Nations match on February 7 through the Greene King website and present your booking confirmation at the bar.
This promotion is valid at all Greene King sports pubs, including Flaming Grill, Hungry Horse, and Belhaven, as part of their Fans Reunited initiative supported by Rugby World Cup champions Martin Johnson and Jason Robinson.
Zoe Bowley, Greene King pubs’ Managing Director, expressed, “Fans Reunited recognizes the significant role of sports and the pub environment in uniting people. By launching during the Guinness Six Nations and providing reunited fans with a complimentary pint, we aim to inspire reconnecting moments among old acquaintances over a drink.”
Rugby legend Martin Johnson emphasized the unique bond created through sports, particularly rugby, which lasts a lifetime, a sentiment echoed by Greene King’s Fans Reunited campaign. He emphasized how the pub atmosphere enhances these experiences, fostering connections and reinforcing the community spirit that defines rugby and Fans Reunited.
The announcement follows the Treasury’s decision to grant pubs and music venues a 15% reduction in their business rates starting in April, offering substantial support following changes made in the November budget and the conclusion of pandemic assistance. Treasury minister Dan Tomlinson estimated an average savings of £1,650 for pubs with this relief, though other hospitality sectors like hotels and restaurants will not receive the same benefit.
Emma McClarkin, chief executive of the BBPA, commended the government for responding to concerns raised by publicans, consumers, and MPs, safeguarding pubs from financial strain and ensuring their continued operation.
