A Russian official has brought attention to numerous British defense-related locations, suggesting they could be potential targets for missile strikes in a concerning new map that has raised fears of a possible World War 3 scenario.
Senator and war veteran Dmitry Rogozin, a former deputy premier and space agency chief, cautioned that the UK could pose a significant threat. This warning follows former British defense secretary Ben Wallace’s remarks about making Crimea inhospitable from a Russian perspective, emphasizing the need to exert pressure on the region without direct invasion.
In response to Wallace’s statements, Rogozin shared a map outlining UK defense sites that could be at risk from Russia. He pointed out the necessity of Ukraine acquiring capabilities to render Crimea uninhabitable, echoing the sentiments expressed by Wallace.
The map, derived from the UK government’s policy document “Defence Industrial Strategy 2025: Making Defence an Engine for Growth,” illustrates 23 defense sites, encompassing military and industrial facilities across the UK’s four nations. Television personality Vladimir Solovyov, known for his Kremlin-scripted broadcasts, mentioned Rogozin’s map as a reminder of potential British targets for destruction.
Solovyov criticized Wallace, labeling him as incompetent and irrelevant, while issuing threats of employing Russia’s Poseidon underwater nuclear drone against Britain. He also hinted at a potential strike on a Second World War shipwreck in the Thames estuary, laden with explosives, as retaliation for alleged British involvement in disrupting Kremlin oil refineries in Ukraine.
The historian Dr. Andrey Sidorov highlighted the dangers posed by the explosives on the shipwreck, suggesting that targeting it could lead to catastrophic consequences for coastal areas. Despite the implications of his statements, Sidorov denied any ties to terrorism.
The escalating tensions were further fueled by Russian state TV’s reported threats of a terrorist operation targeting the shipwreck, adding to the already strained relations between Russia and the UK.
