Tiger Woods has recently entered a plea of not guilty after his arrest following a rollover crash involving two vehicles in Florida. The renowned golfer, aged 50, is facing charges related to driving under the influence with property damage and refusal to undergo a lawful test.
The incident occurred when Woods attempted to pass a tow truck on a narrow road, causing his dark SUV to roll over. Despite registering a 0.00 reading on a breathalyzer test, he chose not to take a urine analysis. Subsequently, Woods was detained for a mandatory eight hours at Martin County Jail before being released to return home.
News of Woods’ plea came to light through a report by TMZ based on court records. Attorney Douglas Duncan is set to represent him in the legal proceedings.
Martin County Sheriff John Budensiek clarified that alcohol was not a factor in the crash, as evidenced by Woods’ negative breathalyzer result. However, the golfer’s refusal to submit to a urine analysis led to charges of DUI, property damage, and non-compliance with testing.
The sheriff recounted the events of the crash, noting that the driver of the overturned Land Rover, identified as Woods, displayed signs of impairment. Despite Woods citing previous injuries and surgeries, further tests conducted at the scene resulted in his arrest and subsequent transfer to Martin County Jail.
Fortunately, there were no injuries reported from the crash, with both Woods and the other individual involved being unharmed. Budensiek emphasized that the investigation was carried out to ensure proper protocols were followed in handling the situation.
