“I Am Maximus Leads Field of 34 for 2026 Randox Grand National”

The 2026 Randox Grand National field at Aintree has been confirmed with a complete lineup of 34 horses, the maximum allowed. The prestigious £1 million race will take place on Saturday and will be broadcast live on ITV.

Leading the pack is I Am Maximus, owned by JP McManus and trained by Willie Mullins, the 2024 race winner who finished second last year. A notable rematch awaits between I Am Maximus and stablemate Nick Rockett, who secured a famous 1-2-3 victory for Mullins alongside Grangeclare West. Mullins aims to make history by becoming one of the most successful trainers in the Grand National’s legacy.

Jockey assignments include Paul Townend sticking with I Am Maximus and amateur Patrick Mullins continuing with Nick Rockett. Other contenders like Grangeclare West, Panic Attack, Iroko, and Jagwar are all set for the race.

Willie Mullins has declared all nine of his horses, including a surprise entry of Spillane’s Tower for the Aintree Bowl on Thursday. The race is scheduled for 4:00 pm on Saturday, April 11, 2026.

The 48-page guide to the 2026 Randox Grand National is available for those seeking in-depth information on the event. Reserves may step in if non-runners are announced before 1 pm on Friday, April 10th.
