Police intervened at a medical facility where a male nurse required medical attention following an alleged assault.
Law enforcement responded to Wythenshawe Hospital in Manchester at approximately 1:30 am yesterday after a male nurse in his 50s was harmed in an incident.
The injuries sustained by the victim are believed to be non-life-threatening or permanent, and he has been discharged from the hospital, according to Greater Manchester Police.
A 48-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of committing grievous bodily harm under Section 18. The individual, who was reportedly being treated at Wythenshawe Hospital at the time of the incident, remains hospitalized. The nurse was purportedly assaulted with a shattered mug.
A spokesperson from GMP mentioned, “Police were alerted shortly after 1:30 am on Thursday, December 11, 2025, to a hospital on Southmoor Road, Manchester regarding a severe assault on a man. Officers promptly arrived and swiftly apprehended a 48-year-old man on suspicion of a Section 18 assault.”
“The man is currently in police detention. The victim, a man in his 50s, sustained injuries that are not deemed life-threatening or life-changing.”
“He has been discharged from the hospital. Investigations are ongoing.”
