The threats were conveyed via email to various recipients, including a senator, as disclosed by law enforcement officials. The accused also purportedly issued threats towards “all Canadian police officers,” as detailed in the formal accusation.
Police investigations revealed that Porlier had previously been convicted of arson and mischief for setting a church ablaze in Toronto in 2017, as confirmed by CBC News. At the time of his recent arrest, he was serving a probationary period for those offenses, according to an RCMP representative. Porlier made a court appearance on Saturday, with the charges pending verification in the legal proceedings.
