TV host Kate Garraway is facing financial concerns as her media company, Praespero 100 Ltd, disclosed losses of nearly £300,000 in the latest financial year. The firm, established by the 58-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter, was reported to have a debt of £288,122 for 2024, a significant increase from being £165,011 in debt in 2023 and having a surplus of £36,888 in 2022.
Praespero 100 Ltd operates in radio broadcasting, television programming, broadcasting activities, and non-financial management consultancy. This setback comes after Kate accumulated debts of £800,000 while caring for her late husband, Derek Draper, during his four-year battle with Covid before his passing at 56 in January 2024. Additionally, Kate faced a tax bill of £716,000 when closing down their psychotherapy business, Astra Aspera Ltd, which had debts of £184,096.
To alleviate her financial burdens, Kate sold a property in London earlier this year and dipped into her pension fund. Hacker Young, a London-based firm, is now assisting with managing her financial affairs. In a public statement on Good Morning Britain in March 2024, Kate expressed her shame over her indebtedness despite having a well-paying job that she loves.
Kate has highlighted the challenges faced by caregivers in the UK, emphasizing the excessive costs and difficulties they endure. Despite her struggles, she has spoken out on behalf of other carers who may be facing even greater hardships. Notably, Kate was honored with an OBE for her contributions to broadcasting, journalism, and charitable work, with the investiture ceremony taking place at Windsor Castle on June 28, 2023.
