“Woman Loses 120 Pounds to Donate Kidney to Mother”

A woman shed a significant amount of weight to donate a kidney to her mother, who has been battling chronic kidney disease since a young age. Ealesa Evers, aged 33, lost over 120 pounds over an 18-month period to meet the weight requirement set by doctors for the transplant process. Her motivation stemmed from a deep desire to help her mother regain health and vitality.

Ealesa, hailing from Torpoint, Cornwall, mentioned that her mother’s resilience and support inspired her throughout her weight loss journey. Facing the challenge of losing weight, Ealesa emphasized that her mother’s illness was the driving force behind her weight loss efforts. Her mother, Colleen Body, aged 55, had been managing type one diabetes since she was 17, which eventually led to chronic kidney disease and deteriorating health.

The family’s journey took a turn for the worse in 2020 following the loss of Ealesa’s grandmother due to COVID-19, causing Colleen’s health to worsen, leading to hemodialysis treatments three times a week. Witnessing her mother’s declining health, Ealesa decided to undergo rigorous weight loss through natural means, avoiding any weight loss medications with unknown health effects.

After successfully shedding the required weight, Ealesa was tested and found to be a close match for her mother’s kidney transplant. The duo is currently awaiting the life-saving procedure, with Ealesa diligently undergoing various health assessments to ensure a smooth recovery post-surgery. She also plans to run the 2026 London Marathon to raise awareness and funds for Kidney Research UK.
