An “unruly” Emirates passenger was restrained by fellow passengers and flight attendants on a long-haul flight to Dubai after allegedly becoming intoxicated. Video footage captured the moment when the individual was subdued during the seven-hour journey from Newcastle on February 27, 2023.
According to India Sherwin, 20, who recorded the incident, the passenger displayed disruptive behavior after being denied further alcohol service around four hours into the flight. Witnesses reported that the man, described as “intoxicated,” became increasingly loud and aggressive, creating chaos on board.
The video shows the commotion as passengers intervened to restrain the unruly individual, who was later subdued and secured by cabin crew using cable ties. Ms. Sherwin described the tense situation, noting the alarming behavior of the passenger who verbally abused the flight attendants and other passengers.
After the flight landed in Dubai, local authorities escorted the disruptive passenger off the plane. Emirates confirmed the incident, emphasizing the safety of passengers and crew as their top priority and stating that the individual was handed over to the authorities.
