“Pensioner’s Murder for Money in Indonesia Hotel”

Police suspect that a pensioner who went missing was killed for a small sum of money. Maria Matilde Mu Cazorla, 72, disappeared after staying at the Bumi Aditya hotel in Senggigi, Lombok, Indonesia. Her last known communication was a message with spelling errors claiming she was in Laos. Concerned friends reported her missing when she failed to return to Sant Feliu de Guixols, Catalonia.

Authorities in Indonesia began investigating her disappearance and found her belongings abandoned in a hotel waste area, except for her phone, bank cards, and passport. Two local men, aged 30 and 34, were arrested on suspicion of murder and robbery. They admitted to the crime and disclosed the location of Maria’s body, which was discovered buried on Batu Bolong Beach near the hotel.

The suspects, one a former hotel employee dismissed for theft, reportedly sold Maria’s phone on the black market. Investigators believe that the motive for the murder was financial, as only a small amount of money was missing from Maria’s possessions. It is suspected that the perpetrators broke into her bungalow during the night, strangled her, and concealed her body in a generator room.

Concerns have been raised that more individuals may have been involved in the crime, possibly including someone linked to the hotel’s operations. Maria, a seasoned traveler and former flight attendant, frequented the hotel for years as part of her solo journeys. Her family expressed doubts about the hotel staff’s statements, suggesting possible complicity in the incident.
