“Fire Erupts in Glasgow’s Ruchill Area”

Residents in a city were cautioned about smoke after a significant fire incident occurred last night. Images depict flames erupting from a structure on Benview Street in the Ruchill area of Glasgow. Local residents were advised to keep windows and doors shut as three fire crews responded to the scene at approximately 8:09 pm on Friday.

The fire took place near the Murano Street Student Village, a housing facility for the University of Glasgow, where international students are residing before the upcoming academic term. People in the Ruchill neighborhood, including students and families, were alerted about the smoke during the emergency response operation.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries resulting from the fire, which is believed to have originated in an abandoned building. The cause of the fire remains unknown at this point. Photos illustrate the property being engulfed by flames and the dark smoke spreading across the vicinity in Glasgow. It is believed that residents in the Murano Street, Bilsland Drive, Lenny Street, and Benview Street areas were most affected by the smoke.

A spokesperson from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service stated last night as the operation neared its conclusion, “We were alerted at 8:09 to a building on fire in the Ruchill Park area of Glasgow. We dispatched two appliances and a height appliance to the location. Crews are currently on-site, and there have been no reported injuries.”

Authorities are now collaborating to determine the cause of the fire. A spokesperson from Police Scotland mentioned, “Police are supporting Scottish Fire and Rescue Service colleagues at the site of a significant fire at an abandoned building on Benview Street, Ruchill, Glasgow. Due to the heavy smoke, residents are advised to steer clear of Ruchill Park and keep their windows and doors closed, especially in the areas of Murano Street, Bilsland Drive, Benview Street, Lenny Street. Investigations into the fire’s origin are ongoing.”

Previously, firefighters had advised families in Liverpool to keep their doors and windows shut due to a sizable fire at a former country estate. Emergency crews rushed to Woolton Hall, an 18th-century mansion in Liverpool, after it caught fire around 8 pm on Tuesday. Firefighters battled the escalating blaze at the three-story stone-built structure for several hours.

Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service released updates to the media, urging people to steer clear of the affected area. Their initial statement revealed, “Firefighters responded to a fire at Woolton Hall, Speke Road, Woolton, Liverpool this evening. Crews were alerted at 8:09 pm and arrived at 8:16 pm, with five fire engines and an aerial appliance on-site. Firefighters encountered a three-story stone building fully engulfed in flames, measuring approximately 40 by 30 meters.”
