“60,000 Air Fryers Recalled in Ireland Over Fire Hazard”

Nearly 60,000 air fryers in the Republic of Ireland are being recalled due to fire safety concerns. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has issued a warning urging consumers to discontinue use of specific Tower air fryer models following the discovery of a manufacturing flaw.

Although no incidents have been reported in Ireland, cases of these air fryers catching fire have been documented in the UK. The affected air fryer models were manufactured between 2020 and 2024 and were retailed by various stores including Argos, Tesco Ireland, DID, Dealz, Lidl, and Amazon.

Consumers are advised to identify the model number by checking the appliance rating label on the bottom of their air fryer. If in possession of one of the affected air fryers, it is crucial to immediately cease using it, unplug it, and contact Tower Housewares at towerproduct@customersvc.co.uk. Alternatively, individuals can reach out to the CCPC national consumer helpline at 01 402 5555 or via email at ask@ccpc.ie.

Grainne Griffin, CCPC’s communications director, emphasized the importance of checking the model of the Tower air fryer, as nearly 60,000 units have been sold in Ireland, posing a significant safety risk if used. This recall follows a safety alert issued previously for certain Citroen C3 and DS3 model vehicles due to faulty Takata airbag systems.

Stellantis, the company behind Citroen, has removed around 82,000 affected vehicles from the roads in France, affecting an estimated 120,000 drivers in the UK. While no faults have been reported in the UK, Stellantis is actively managing the situation and ensuring customer safety remains a top priority. The company has initiated a stop-drive order for all impacted vehicles across Europe, including the UK, to address the issue promptly and responsibly.
