Sky has recently introduced its new Glass TV, boasting enhanced display quality, user-friendly setup, and improved sound through its integrated speakers and soundbar.
In contrast to older systems, Sky Glass eliminates the need for a satellite dish by delivering content directly to its high-definition 4K screen through internet streaming. While it offers top-notch entertainment, users interested in acquiring the service must subscribe to a monthly plan to access its premium features.
For those hesitant to commit to long-term subscriptions, a new free streaming option has emerged, known as Freely, which launched last year. This platform provides a convenient way to access a variety of entertainment content online without requiring an antenna for channel reception.
Initially lagging behind Sky Glass in terms of content and features, Freely has made significant improvements over time. The service has now expanded its reach to include a wider range of television models, such as those from Philips and JVC, in addition to existing partnerships with various brands like Amazon Fire TV, Hisense, and Panasonic.
In a recent update, Freely announced enhancements to the user experience, including a Backwards TV Guide feature allowing users to catch up on programs from the past week. Another upgrade, called Never Miss, offers personalized show recommendations, highlighting popular and upcoming content. Additionally, Freely introduced a My List function akin to Sky’s Playlist, enabling users to save up to 50 favorite shows from major UK free-to-air broadcasters for easy access.
