WhatsApp to Discontinue Support for Older iPhones

WhatsApp has announced the discontinuation of support for older iPhones, effective this week. Users with iPhones older than iOS 15.1 will no longer be able to use the platform for communication unless they upgrade to a newer device.

The affected iPhone models include the 5s, 6, and 6s. WhatsApp emphasized that only iOS versions 15.1 and newer will be supported starting May 5, 2025.

Users still using these older devices should be cautious about downloading unofficial versions of WhatsApp from the internet. These unofficial apps, created by third parties, violate WhatsApp’s Terms of Service and may pose security risks.

Using unauthorized applications can lead to temporary bans or even permanent blocks from using WhatsApp. WhatsApp advises users to stick to official apps downloaded from trusted sources like the Google Play and Apple App stores to avoid potential issues.

It is crucial for all users to be aware of the risks associated with sideloading apps onto iPhones. Opting for official app sources is the safest approach to ensure a secure and uninterrupted messaging experience.
