Jake Paul has surprisingly agreed to only receive a 1% share of the potential earnings in a highly anticipated fight with Anthony Joshua. The social media star recently met with Saudi boxing chief Turki Alalshikh to discuss a potential matchup with the heavyweight champion. Earlier this year, Paul created a stir in the boxing world by challenging Joshua, who accepted the offer during a phone conversation.
Both fighters are aiming for a massive crossover showdown in 2026. Following his recent victory over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, Paul reiterated his call-out to Joshua. Alalshikh revealed during an appearance on ‘The Boxing Voice’ that Paul is eager for the fight and has accepted a remarkable 99-1 purse split in Joshua’s favor.
Eddie Hearn has hinted at the possibility of the fight happening next year, acknowledging discussions between the parties. Despite concerns about the matchup being a mismatch, Hearn expressed interest in the fight, noting that if offered, Joshua would likely accept. Hearn emphasized that the primary plan is to face Tyson Fury next year, with the potential for a Paul fight along the way.
While Paul’s next bout is generating excitement after his recent victory, his manager mentioned a desire to compete for a world title soon. However, due to the current landscape in the cruiserweight division, a title fight may not be immediate. Plans are in motion for Paul to fight again this year, potentially targeting November or December, with the hope of securing a championship opportunity in the near future.
