Rylan Clark Bids Farewell as This Morning Host

Rylan Clark has officially announced that today, the 29th of August, will be his final day as a temporary host on This Morning during the summer period. This decision comes after he received significant backlash for his comments on immigration, leading him to issue a public statement.

Starting off the ITV daytime show today with Josie Gibson, Rylan shared, “Last day today!” Josie replied, “What a week.” The duo had been filling in for Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard over the summer, alongside other guest hosts like Joel Dommett, Emma Willis, Olivia Attwood, and Dermot O’Leary.

This Morning airs on ITV1 and ITVX every weekday at 10 am. Rylan and Josie joined the list of celebrities, including Ranvir Singh and Christine Lampard, who have taken over hosting duties on the show temporarily.

Their time on the show was marred by controversy following a heated debate on immigration, coinciding with protests against housing asylum seekers in hotels across the UK. During a discussion on Nigel Farage’s deportation plans, Rylan shared his views on immigration, emphasizing the need for a policy to prevent illegal crossings in the Channel.

Despite facing criticism for his remarks, Rylan defended his stance on Instagram, calling for constructive conversations rather than social media backlash. While some fans expressed disappointment, others, including Josie and Rob Rinder, stood by him.

Rylan, who rose to fame after winning Celebrity Big Brother in 2013, has been a familiar face on This Morning, often co-hosting with Ruth Langsford and Alison Hammond. In a recent interview, Rylan discussed balancing his public persona with his private life, acknowledging the different sides of his personality that he shares with his audience.
