Carlos Alcaraz and Juan Carlos Ferrero have ended their coaching partnership after seven years. Ferrero began coaching Alcaraz when he was just 15 years old and played a significant role in his development as a champion.
During their collaboration, Alcaraz achieved notable success, including winning six Grand Slam titles, attaining the world No. 1 ranking, and securing an Olympic silver medal. Ferrero, a former world No. 1 and Grand Slam champion himself, recently received the 2025 ATP Coach of the Year Award alongside Samuel Lopez for their work with Alcaraz.
Alcaraz shared the news of their split in an emotional social media post, expressing gratitude for the journey they had taken together. He reflected on the growth he experienced both as an athlete and as a person under Ferrero’s guidance, emphasizing the value of their shared experiences.
In response, Ferrero also took to Instagram to bid farewell to Alcaraz, reminiscing on the memories and achievements they had shared over the years. He thanked Alcaraz for the trust and effort put into their partnership, acknowledging the impact of their collaboration on his own growth.
While Alcaraz continues to be coached by Samuel Lopez, who works at Ferrero’s academy in Alicante, the specific reasons behind Ferrero’s departure from the coaching setup remain undisclosed.
