Two individuals lost their lives in a tragic accident involving the SUV carrying Anthony Joshua, as reported by witnesses. A distressing scene unfolded in Nigeria as the British boxer sustained injuries and was rushed to the hospital. Eyewitnesses mentioned that Joshua’s vehicle, accompanied by security personnel, collided with a stationary truck near Makun on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway in Ogun state.
The incident occurred when Joshua’s vehicle swerved due to a burst tire, leading to the loss of control and subsequent collision. Local authorities, including the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Agency, are investigating the crash, confirming Joshua’s involvement.
According to an eye-witness named Adeniyi Orojo, the convoy consisted of two vehicles, a Lexus SUV and a Pajero SUV, with Joshua seated behind the driver alongside another passenger. Tragically, the passenger beside the driver and the individual next to Joshua lost their lives at the scene of the accident. Immediate rescue efforts were initiated by witnesses and officials from the Federal Road Safety Corps arrived shortly after.
Eddie Hearn, Joshua’s promoter, informed Mirror Sport of the incident while on holiday in the Caribbean. Hearn indicated that Joshua was safe and en route to the hospital, with limited details available at the time.
