Asda introduces a new pricing pledge, offering over 2,300 everyday items at lower prices compared to Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Morrisons loyalty card rates. The discounted products include fresh meat, produce, chilled goods, core groceries, and bakery items.
In addition, Asda announced a special promotion for January, where customers will receive 10% cashback in Asda Rewards Cashpot on all fresh produce purchases made in-store.
Rachel Eyre, Asda’s Chief Customer Officer, expressed the company’s commitment to providing budget-friendly prices to support families post-Christmas. The Asda Price initiative ensures transparent and consistent pricing without the necessity for loyalty cards.
Following a challenging Christmas period, Asda experienced a decline in market share to 11.4% in the 12 weeks ending December 28, as reported by Worldpanel analysts. Sales at Asda dropped by 4.2%, marking its 22nd consecutive month of decreasing sales, while competitors Tesco and Sainsbury’s gained more customers, solidifying their position ahead of Asda in the supermarket industry.
Recently, Tesco unveiled a new Everyday Low Prices campaign, promising to maintain affordable prices on 3,000 branded products consistently.
