Barry Levine, the author, has delved into the intricate social circles of the elite in the US where Epstein wielded his power. According to Levine, Epstein was a manipulative individual who managed to cultivate relationships with some of the most influential people globally due to his charisma and ability to offer favors in return for information or financial benefits.
Levine’s book, “The Spider: Inside the Criminal Web of Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell,” sheds light on the extent of Epstein’s reach within various circles, showcasing those who remained loyal to him despite his criminal activities. Epstein saw himself as a “people collector,” using the information he gathered to gain advantages, whether through favors, finances, or potentially blackmail.
Despite Epstein’s criminal convictions, some notable figures like Prince Andrew and Lord Peter Mandelson continued their associations with him, leading to scrutiny and repercussions. Emails have surfaced showing extended contact between Prince Andrew and Epstein, contradicting Andrew’s previous claims.
Levine suggested that many acquaintances of Epstein may have overlooked his wrongdoings due to his influential connections and high status among power brokers. The author emphasized that while many regretted associating with Epstein after the fact, it does not necessarily imply their involvement in his illicit activities.
