A 31-year-old British tourist was discovered deceased on the popular Levante beach in Benidorm, Spain. Authorities confirmed that the individual had encountered difficulties while returning from the sea, while his two British companions safely made it back to shore.
According to a National Police source, the incident occurred around 8 pm when the man struggled to make it back to dry land after entering the water. Despite rescue attempts by several individuals and coastguards, the man could not be saved, and his body was later found washed up on the shoreline.
A police spokesperson stated that the death of the British man is being investigated as a suspected drowning, with no indications of foul play. Reports suggest that the man, presumed to be a tourist, was with friends who managed to exit the water safely while he remained in the sea, drifting further away from the coast.
Local authorities mentioned that the lifeguard service had concluded for the day when the incident took place, leaving the man stranded in the water. Eyewitnesses described the tragic scene on social media, highlighting the challenging sea conditions at the time.
In a separate incident in April, the body of Jeff Duffield, another British man, was discovered on a Benidorm beach, prompting tributes from his relatives. Additionally, in March, a British groom-to-be, Oliver Holroyd, tragically passed away in a Benidorm bar while celebrating his stag do, despite efforts to revive him by bystanders and medical personnel.
