BT has released a crucial update regarding landline services, urging households still relying on older copper cables to make the necessary changes. The longstanding copper infrastructure, in use for more than a century, is set to be deactivated within a year, with the scheduled date being January 31, 2027.

The switch to digital is relatively straightforward for most users, with many BT handsets already compatible with digital landlines and the option to retain existing phone numbers without any cost increase.
