Bundee Aki’s Wife Gives Birth in Car During Rugby Tour

British and Irish Lions player Bundee Aki revealed a surprising story about the birth of his fifth child while he was away in Australia for a rugby tour. Aki’s wife unexpectedly gave birth in the car while on her way to the hospital, as she went into labor before reaching the medical facility. The unusual delivery occurred just before the First Test match in Australia a couple of weeks ago.

Aki’s previous children were born either in a hospital or at home, but this time, his wife delivered their latest addition, named Aine, in a car in New Zealand while Aki was occupied with his Lions commitments. Despite the remarkable birth event, Aki had to wait to meet his newborn daughter as he had been away from his family for eight weeks due to the rugby tour.

After the Lions secured a series victory, Aki shared the news that he had not yet met his newborn child. He expressed gratitude to his wife for handling the situation while he was away playing. Aki recounted the sequence of events leading up to the birth, mentioning that his wife informed him of her contractions and then suddenly revealed the baby’s arrival during a video call on the way to the hospital.

Although Aki did not start in the First Test, he joined the match in the 57th minute as the Lions triumphed with a 27-19 win. He reflected on how the news of his daughter’s birth brought him good luck and positivity for the game. Aki also shared that all his children have names starting with the letter A, with Aine being the latest addition to the family.

In the subsequent game against Australia, Aki partnered with Huw Jones in the centers, but the Lions fell short of a clean sweep as the Wallabies put up a strong performance in Sydney, securing a victory over the Lions.
