“Christmas Comes Early: Morrisons Starts Festive Season in September”

Get ready for Christmas in September as Morrisons supermarket in Eastbourne, East Sussex, surprises shoppers with an early festive display. The shelves are already stocked with Christmas treats like mince pies, cakes, and advent calendars, but there’s a catch.

Despite the holiday cheer, some mince pies on sale have best-before dates in October, 16 weeks before Christmas. Boxes of Morrisons’ own-brand mince pies are priced at £1.50 per box of six with a best-before date of October 24 at the East Sussex store.

One customer expressed disbelief at the early display, saying, “It’s the first week of September. I haven’t even packed away my summer clothes, and suddenly I’m being force-fed mince pies with a sell-by date before Halloween. At this rate, we’ll be carving turkeys instead of pumpkins.”

Alongside the mince pies, shoppers can find a variety of Christmas delights including a Christmas cake bar, Lindt advent calendars, Christmas fruit cakes, and an iced Christmas cake infused with brandy. Additionally, there are options like mini gingerbread people and Galaxy, Dairy Milk, and Malteser advent calendars already available.

Notably, this isn’t the first time Morrisons has introduced Christmas items months ahead of the holiday season. A previous incident on August 17 saw mince pies on sale in Solihull, shocking customers with the early festive offerings.

Despite the unexpected Christmas display, Morrisons has yet to comment on the situation.
