“Community Mourns Loss of Teen Ellie in Tragic Tadcaster Crash”

A tragic incident in Tadcaster resulted in the loss of a sixth form student named Eleanor Hague, affectionately known as Ellie. The 16-year-old from Sherburn-in-Elmet, North Yorkshire, was a student at Tadcaster Grammar School when she passed away following a collision involving a minibus and a car.

The community is mourning the loss of Ellie, who was a passenger in a Mercedes Sprinter minibus that collided with a Hyundai i10 car on Toulston Lane at the junction with Rudgate. The accident occurred at 12:28 pm on Monday. The minibus was transporting nine passengers, aged 16 to 18, from Tadcaster Grammar School and Sherburn High School, both schools sharing a sixth form program.

Another teenage girl sustained serious but non-life-threatening injuries in the crash and was taken to the hospital. The other passengers and the minibus driver suffered minor injuries. The driver of the Hyundai, a 40-year-old woman from Leeds, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing serious injury by dangerous driving. She has since been released on conditional bail.

The authorities have identified Eleanor Hague as the victim of the tragic collision and are appealing for witnesses or individuals with relevant dashcam footage to come forward. Toulston Lane, which was closed following the incident, has since been reopened.
