“Connecticut Cannibal’s Release Sparks Family’s Concern”

A man known as the Connecticut Cannibal brutally murdered a homeless man named Angel Gonzalez in 2011, consuming parts of his body in a graveyard. Tyree Smith, the killer, confessed to his cousin about the gruesome act, detailing how he savagely attacked Gonzalez with an axe, describing the taste of his victim’s eyeball as similar to an oyster. Smith, who was deemed not guilty due to insanity, spent years in a psychiatric facility before being conditionally released earlier this year, following successful treatment for his schizophrenia and substance abuse issues.

While Smith has exhibited stability and positive behavior in his new supervised environment, reports from the Connecticut Department of Correction reveal past altercations with fellow inmates. Despite Smith’s remorse and apology for the heinous crime, Angel Gonzalez’s family members, including his sister-in-law Talitha Frazier, remain apprehensive about Smith’s reintegration into society, expressing concerns about his violent tendencies.

Talitha Frazier, in particular, emphasized the contradiction between Smith’s plea of insanity and his subsequent violent actions. Despite Smith’s courtroom apology and expressions of regret, doubts persist about his ability to coexist peacefully with others.
