Luke Littler, feeling annoyed, has criticized a darts coach who disapproved of his choice to participate in the World Youth Championship, calling him an ‘absolute helmet’. The 18-year-old competed at the event in Wigan recently, reaching the semi-finals where he was defeated by emerging talent Beau Greaves, the eventual champion.
Despite the coach’s negative comments, Littler expressed his enjoyment of the experience and commended Greaves, a three-time women’s world champion by the age of 21. However, Cornwall, the former PDC Tour Card holder, was not impressed by Littler’s decision and voiced his disapproval on the Mission Darts Podcast.
After facing criticism from Cornwall, Littler fired back with a strong response on Instagram, denouncing Cornwall as an ‘absolute helmet’ and indicating his lack of familiarity with him. Littler defended his participation in the championship, highlighting that he aimed to gain experience playing at a professional level similar to established players like Gian van Veen and Keane Barry.
Cornwall also targeted Stephen Bunting in his remarks, criticizing his positioning on the oche during matches. Expressing his opinion, Cornwall compared Bunting to Wes Newton, emphasizing the importance of correct positioning for consistency in performance.
