Elderly Woman Killed in Llandudno Lorry Collision

An elderly woman, aged 89, tragically passed away following a collision with a council recycling lorry in Llandudno, Wales. The driver of the lorry has been detained on suspicion of causing death due to dangerous driving. The incident occurred on Brookes Street near Caroline Road around 9 am on Monday. Despite swift emergency response, including an air ambulance, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The area was cordoned off by the police for investigation, with a white DAF lorry observed within the taped-off zone.

Sergeant Duncan Logan of the North Wales Police expressed condolences to the woman’s family, stating that they are receiving support during this challenging period. An arrest has been made in connection with the incident, and the investigation is ongoing.

Sgt Logan encouraged individuals who were present in the Brookes Street vicinity at the time of the collision or possess relevant information to reach out to the authorities through the official channels, either online or by dialing 101 and referencing case number 25000723615.

Conwy County Council verified that one of its recycling vehicles was involved in a “serious incident” in Llandudno. The council spokesperson mentioned that the circumstances surrounding the event are being probed by the North Wales Police, with the council cooperating in the inquiries. They refrained from speculating on the situation until the police complete their investigations.

An inquest into the matter is anticipated to take place.
