A fire incident at a retail park in Wales led to the evacuation of businesses and restaurants, including Home Bargains, Cineworld, McDonald’s, JD Gym, Starbucks, and Burger King. Witnesses observed the fire spreading to the roof of the Home Bargains store.
Although the fire has been extinguished, emergency services are still on-site for investigation. Residents are advised to keep windows closed. The South Wales Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson mentioned ongoing operations at Newport Retail Park and urged people to avoid the area.
A Burger King employee shared that all businesses were evacuated due to the fire, with only their establishment reopening. Shoppers Hayley Whiteman and Gillian Phillips reported being evacuated from Home Bargains as the fire escalated along the building.
Cineworld announced closure for the day, advising customers to seek refunds through customer services. The cinema expressed regret over the inconvenience caused by the unexpected closure.
