Freddie Flintoff Resigns as Head Coach Amid Salary Dispute

Former England cricket star Freddie Flintoff made a significant career change in 2022 following a life-altering near-fatal crash while filming Top Gear. After three years of recovery, he took on the role of head coach for the Northern Superchargers team in The Hundred in 2023.

However, Flintoff resigned from the position last month citing a disrespectful salary proposal that offered him significantly less pay compared to other head coaches. Despite this setback, he remained active in cricket and was appointed as the head coach of the England Lions in September 2024.

For Flintoff, coaching has been more than just a job; it has been a crucial support system during his challenging recovery journey post-crash. His return to television hosting with ITV’s Bullseye game show this month marks a significant milestone after a three-year hiatus from TV work.

In a recent documentary, Flintoff expressed feeling anxious about returning to screens, showcasing vulnerability despite his extensive presenting experience. The Bullseye series, which follows the classic 1980s program format, features top darts players like Luke Littler and Stephen Bunting.
