A man in Bouc-Bel-Air, France, has been charged by police for allegedly receiving a child-like sex doll in a package from China. The 56-year-old suspect, who had a prior conviction for sexual assault according to Aix-en-Provence prosecutors, confessed to ordering the doll for sexual purposes during a police interrogation. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison and a fine of €75,000.
The doll was purchased from a website specializing in sex dolls, as reported by Le Parisien. The man is set to stand trial on January 2 on charges related to importing, attempting to acquire, and attempting to possess pornographic images of a minor.
Following recent incidents involving child-like sex dolls being sold online, the French government considered blocking access to Shein, an online retail giant, after finding such products alongside illegal weapons. In Sweden, the government pledged to combat the sale of these dolls online after reports of similar orders through various online retailers. The Swedish Minister for Social Services expressed concern over the availability of these dolls and emphasized the need to prevent their sale and purchase.
A meeting was convened in response to instances of e-commerce companies selling child-like sex dolls, prompted by a police report filed by the Swedish child rights organization, ChildX, against Amazon and other online retailers. Amazon stated its commitment to protecting children and adolescents, highlighting its strict policies against child pornography and the sale of sex dolls resembling minors. They emphasized collaboration with authorities and NGOs to address this critical issue.
