“Gary Lineker’s ‘The Rest Is Football’ Show to Air on Netflix for 2026 World Cup”

Gary Lineker is excited about the great opportunity to collaborate with Netflix during the 2026 World Cup. The former England striker has secured a lucrative deal with the streaming giant for his show The Rest Is Football, which will be broadcast daily from the tournament. Produced by Lineker’s Goalhanger production company, the show will feature match analysis, special guests, and interviews, all filmed in a New York studio.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the partnership, Lineker stated, “We are thrilled to bring The Rest Is Football to Netflix for the 2026 World Cup. It’s a fantastic chance for us to discuss football daily on a global platform. Expect the usual analysis, honesty, and plenty of laughs, just with more cameras on us, all from the Big Apple.”

Co-hosted by Alan Shearer and Micah Richards, The Rest Is Football was previously aired on the BBC before moving to Netflix in a multi-million dollar deal. Lineker, 65, exited the BBC after a controversial social media post that he apologized for, mentioning he did not notice the offensive emoji included.

Meanwhile, the BBC has confirmed its coverage plans for the upcoming World Cup, with both TV and radio reporters on-site and sharing broadcasting rights with ITV. The 2026 World Cup is scheduled to kick off on June 11 and end on July 19, with Shearer already tipping England as one of the favorites for victory.

Shearer shared his insights with Betfair, highlighting England’s strong squad selection strategy under Thomas Tuchel and emphasizing the need for continued success to clinch the World Cup title. He emphasized the importance of energy, purpose, and goal-scoring for England to secure victory.

Sky has announced a price reduction on its Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the 2025/26 season, offering significant savings to members and an expanded lineup of live matches, including over 1,400 Premier League and EFL games. Sky will broadcast a minimum of 215 live Premier League matches next season, an increase from previous seasons, providing fans with more top-flight football action.
