“Hamilton Penalized in Mexico City Grand Prix Drama”

The stewards of the Formula 1 race explained their decision to penalize Lewis Hamilton during the Mexico City Grand Prix. Hamilton was investigated for leaving the track while battling Max Verstappen. Although initially cleared for not using the designated escape road, he was later penalized for gaining an unfair advantage by going off track.

The stewards specified that Hamilton’s car had too much speed to use the prescribed escape road, justifying his failure to comply with the race director’s instructions. As a result, no further action was taken for that particular incident. However, Hamilton received a 10-second time penalty for gaining an advantage by leaving the track, dropping him to eighth place after serving the penalty.

Hamilton expressed frustration over the penalty, citing poor grip on the track. Despite his disappointment with the outcome, he acknowledged the nature of motor racing. When discussing the incident that led to his penalty, Hamilton defended his actions, describing the off-track situation as challenging and emphasizing his effort to bring the car back safely on track.

Fans of Formula 1 can enjoy live coverage of all events with Sky’s Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle, which also offers access to over 100 TV channels and complimentary subscriptions to Netflix and Discovery+.

Hamilton’s reactions during media interviews indicated his disappointment with the race results, but he remained resilient, noting the challenges of competitive racing.
