As she prepares for her upcoming debut on Strictly Come Dancing, Dani Dyer has discussed the infamous show curse and its potential impact on her husband, Jarrod Bowen.
The former Love Island contestant, who recently got married, is among the 15 participants slated to showcase their dance moves when the popular show kicks off on BBC One on September 20.
The “Strictly curse” is a notion suggesting that the program can lead to the breakdown of a contestant’s current romantic relationship. Throughout its two-decade history, the dance competition has reportedly been linked to the demise of at least 21 relationships.
Dani, 29, has now addressed concerns about the curse possibly affecting her marriage, stating, “No! Jarrod is very relaxed. We have no worries. There is no Strictly Curse. We instantly clicked when we met. We have a great relationship, and I’ve always desired a smooth and drama-free partnership. If issues arise, we communicate openly. When we met, there were no games. I am grateful to have found my prince charming at last.”
She expressed her excitement about participating in the show, emphasizing how honored she feels about being invited by the BBC.
Dani publicly confirmed her relationship with West Ham United player Jarrod in 2021, and the couple welcomed twin daughters in May 2023. They became engaged in July 2024 and tied the knot in May of the following year. Additionally, Dani is a mother to her son Santiago from a previous relationship with Sammy Kimmence.
Their wedding took place at the luxurious Langley Hotel in Buckinghamshire, where Dani stunned in a £10,000 off-the-shoulder gown designed by renowned bridal fashion designer Suzanne Neville.
During the ceremony, Dani’s younger sister Sunnie delivered a special speech and recited a poem from Sex and The City. The heartfelt lines highlighted the couple’s love story and commitment to each other.
The couple’s two-year-old twins, Star and Summer, served as flower girls, while Santiago and Dani’s brother Arty, 11, participated as page boys.
Sharing a video montage of their wedding day on Instagram, Dani expressed, “The best day of my entire life and a day that I will want to re-live forever.”
Apart from Dani, this season of Strictly Come Dancing will feature other notable personalities such as I’m A Celebrity winner Vicky Pattison, EastEnders star Balvinder Sopal, Gladiators’ Harry Aikines-Areetey, and Drag Queen La Voix. Additional participants include actress Alex Kingston, England rugby player Chris Robshaw, model Ellie Goldstein, podcaster George Clarke, and The Apprentice star Thomas Skinner.
Strictly Come Dancing is set to return to BBC One on September 20.
