“M54 Lorry Crash Causes Ongoing Delays”

A lorry crash on the M54 motorway in Shropshire led to the closure of the eastbound lanes between junction three (Albrighton) and junction two (Wolverhampton) for recovery operations. The incident occurred on Monday, December 1, around 10 am.

National Highways Traffic Officers recommended allowing extra travel time for those using the M54 and implemented a diversion route to manage the traffic flow during the recovery process. This closure marked the second time within a week that part of the M54 had to be shut down due to a lorry collision.

The eastbound section of the M54 has since reopened between J3 Cosford and J2 Wolverhampton after the completion of the lorry recovery following the previous day’s crash. Despite the reopening, minor delays of under 10 minutes are still expected as the recovery work continues.

The ongoing recovery efforts are anticipated to cause extended delays, with the road closure persisting for the HGV recovery from the prior day’s collision. Road users are advised to adhere to the designated diversion route indicated by solid square symbols on road signs.

National Highways teams are actively working at the scene to facilitate the recovery operations, and delays are foreseen throughout the morning. Travelers are urged to stay updated on the situation.
