Manhunt in New South Wales After Fatal Shooting

Police in New South Wales, Australia, are on a manhunt following a series of criminal incidents that resulted in one death and another individual critically injured. The troubling events unfolded in quick succession in Eungella, located just west of Murwillumbah. Emergency responders arrived at a property where they discovered a man who had been shot.

Despite the efforts of paramedics, the 41-year-old victim succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The deceased individual has not yet been officially identified, while a second man, believed to be 38 years old, was rushed to the hospital and remains in critical condition due to a gunshot wound.

New South Wales police issued a statement confirming the tragic events: “One man has lost his life, and two others have sustained injuries as a result of a shooting incident at a property 10km west of Murwillumbah earlier today. The authorities were alerted to the situation on Tyalgum Road in Eungella around 1.25 pm following reports of gunfire.”

“According to information received by Tweed/Byron Police District, two men aged 41 and 38 were allegedly shot by another individual who fled the scene accompanied by a fourth person. Medical personnel from NSW Ambulance provided immediate care to the older victim at the property, but unfortunately, he passed away. His identity is pending confirmation.”

“Subsequently, law enforcement was notified of another incident on Tyalgum Road involving a 45-year-old man reportedly struck by a vehicle. The injured individual is currently receiving medical treatment in a hospital under police supervision. The 38-year-old man sought medical attention for his gunshot wound separately.”

“Efforts are underway to interview the injured parties to determine the circumstances surrounding their injuries. Authorities are actively searching for a fourth individual, believed to be 37 years old, who is thought to have information vital to the investigation.”

Forensic teams, including the canine unit, are still present at the scene, conducting investigations. As a result of the ongoing probe, a section of Tyalgum Road, spanning from Kellys Road to Old Lismore Road, has been closed off.
