A luxury yacht worth $1 million sank off the Turkish coast just 15 minutes into its first voyage, leading passengers and crew to jump into the water for safety. The vessel, named Dolce Vento, meaning “Sweet Wind” in Italian, was seen gliding into the sea near Zonguldak in northern Turkey before tilting and submerging. This incident occurred during the yacht’s inaugural trip after it was delivered to its owner from Istanbul.
The owner, skipper, and two crew members were seen escaping the sinking yacht and swimming to shore. Authorities, including the Coast Guard and port teams, secured the area around the yacht. The event was captured on video and circulated on Instagram, drawing numerous views and comments speculating on the cause of the sinking, with some suggesting top-heaviness as a possible factor.
An individual pointed out that the accident may have been due to excessive top weight, leading to decreased stability and subsequent capsizing. They emphasized the importance of proper weight distribution and stability assessments before launching any vessel.
