“NATO Jets Respond to Putin’s Fierce Assault on Ukraine”

NATO fighter jets were deployed in response to a severe missile and drone attack launched by Vladimir Putin’s forces, marking one of the most intense assaults of the ongoing conflict. Ukraine experienced power outages and heating disruptions as a result of the aggressive actions, with Russia utilizing 51 missiles and 653 strike drones to target civilian infrastructure amid freezing temperatures. The assault caused significant damage, including a direct hit on a major thermal power plant in Kryvyi Rih, the birthplace of Volodymr Zelensky.

Key facilities in the Kyiv region were also struck, with the Bila Tserkva power plant, Fastiv railway station, and Vyshhorod sustaining critical damage. The onslaught, estimated to cost £130 million, featured lethal hypersonic Kinzhals, also known as Daggers, among the munitions used by Putin’s forces. Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted 585 drones, 29 cruise missiles, and one ballistic missile, with the scale of the attack prompting NATO member Poland to scramble warplanes to safeguard alliance territory.

In response to the Russian airstrikes, Polish military aviation operations were activated as a precautionary measure to secure airspace and protect against potential threats. Meanwhile, discussions for a peace deal between the US and Ukraine were underway, despite Putin’s focus on debilitating Ukraine through military actions. Tragically, a 12-year-old boy lost his life in Dnipro due to the Russian strikes, adding to the toll of civilian casualties.

While Ukraine retaliated with targeted strikes on a key oil refinery in an effort to disrupt Putin’s oil supplies without harming civilians, concerns arose about the US’s involvement in the peace process if Putin remains uncooperative. Ukrainian military leaders emphasized their commitment to defending against Russian aggression, expressing hope for continued support from the US and European allies in their fight for justice.
