Neighbor’s Yard Encroachment Sparks Sale Controversy

A man has criticized his self-proclaimed entitled neighbor for repeatedly taking small sections of his garden to enhance the appearance of his own property. He disclosed that the neighbor has put his house up for sale and is attempting to make it more appealing to potential buyers by encroaching on his garden space.

According to the man’s post on Reddit, the neighbor’s realtor has been using photos of the man’s yard to promote the neighbor’s property as having a “spacious backyard,” despite the fact that the neighbor’s house is set further back on their lot, providing them with a larger front yard.

The man expressed his frustration, stating that the neighbor has been trespassing onto his property, cutting approximately 50 feet of his yard to create the illusion of a larger backyard. This unauthorized activity only occurs when the man and his family are not at home.

Adding to the issue, the neighbor’s house is advertised as having “lake access” and the potential to build a dock, even though the lake is actually located across the road from the property. Despite confronting the neighbor about the matter, the encroachment continues whenever the man is away.

In an effort to address the situation, the man mentioned consulting with a Surveyor to conduct a property survey, as the neighborhood has never undergone such a procedure before. The Surveyor highlighted that the original landowner had only marked out lots with stakes in a field, leading to potential boundary disputes.

The man plans to update further after the survey is completed to resolve the ongoing property dispute. Commenters on the post suggested putting up a temporary fence and seeking legal advice to protect his property rights before any potential sale of the neighbor’s house complicates the issue.
