“Netflix App Support Ending for Certain BT TV Boxes”

A significant change is imminent for some households, as they may soon face restrictions on streaming online content. Concerns have been raised for BT TV users in the UK, as specific set-top boxes are losing support for the popular Netflix application. The streaming service is enhancing its offerings, which unfortunately means older hardware will not be able to keep pace.

Which devices will be impacted?

Two BT TV boxes that will no longer support Netflix are:
– TV Recordable Box (G4)
– TV Box (Z4)

BT explained, “Netflix is updating its app to provide the best user experience, rendering it incompatible with these devices.”

As per a report by Cordbusters, the change will come into effect on March 4, 2026. Post this date, users with these boxes will no longer have access to Netflix content like Drive to Survive, Stranger Things, Seven Dials, and Breaking Bad unless they switch to newer models.

BT has confirmed that newer models will not face the Netflix block. “All other EE TV Boxes, including the 4K Recordable Box (G5), will continue to be supported,” the company assured.

Furthermore, BT clarified that customers’ Netflix subscriptions will remain unaffected. “Your Netflix subscription will stay unchanged, and you can still watch on compatible devices.”

Users with potentially affected boxes are encouraged to contact BT to explore options for upgrading to newer models.

Netflix will remain accessible through other devices such as smart TVs, Fire TV Sticks, gaming consoles, and Apple TV boxes.
