The latest data from UK regulator Ofcom reveals the performance of major broadband providers in handling customer complaints. TalkTalk, Vodafone, and EE ranked below the UK average, generating the highest number of broadband complaints according to Ofcom. While EE’s complaint figures remained consistent, TalkTalk and Vodafone experienced a rise in complaints.
On the positive side, Plusnet emerged as the least complained-about broadband provider, surpassing competitors like Sky and Virgin Media. Sky secured the second spot with minimal complaints, while Virgin Media improved its standing significantly, now ranking as the third best in terms of customer grievances.
The complaint rates per 100,000 customers were as follows:
– Plusnet: 4
– Sky: 6
– Virgin Media: 7
– BT: 11
– Vodafone: 10
– EE: 10
– TalkTalk: 10
Besides broadband, Ofcom also monitors complaints in other services such as landlines and pay-TV. Utility Warehouse led in landline services, followed by Sky, Virgin Media, and Vodafone. TalkTalk, however, continued to struggle, recording the highest number of complaints in landline services.
In the realm of TV services, TalkTalk excelled with the lowest number of complaints, followed by Sky, Virgin Media, and EE. While complaint volumes remained steady across broadband, mobile, and pay-TV, there was no notable improvement from the previous quarter, prompting concerns among consumers facing increased costs.
Ernest Doku, a telecoms expert at uswitch.com, noted the importance of quality service as prices rise. Plusnet’s exceptional performance in customer service has set a high standard, emphasizing the need for consumers to assess value for money and consider switching providers if dissatisfied with their current service.
