“Royal Mail Urges Dog Owners: Keep Postal Workers Safe!”

Royal Mail is urging dog owners to take precautions to prevent postal workers from being attacked by dogs. The company warns that mail delivery may be temporarily stopped if a dog is loose outside a property, especially during the busy holiday season. Dog owners are advised to secure their pets away from the door when receiving deliveries and consider installing letter cages or external postboxes to prevent bites.

A postwoman, Kirsteen Hobson, shared her terrifying experience of being attacked by a dog while on duty, resulting in severe facial injuries. She emphasized the lasting impact of the incident on her life and urged others to prevent similar incidents from happening.

To assist in avoiding such situations, Royal Mail provides a downloadable postcard for homeowners to inform delivery personnel about the presence of a dog on the property and to wait while the dog is secured. The postal company also encourages dog owners to keep their pets secure and away from the delivery areas to ensure the safety of postal workers.
