A man has been taken into custody following a stabbing incident at a school in Melbourne. Allegedly, the school principal was stabbed by another staff member at Keysborough Secondary College, as reported by a news outlet.
Authorities from Victoria Police stated that they responded to reports of an assault at the school in Keysborough around 3 pm on Tuesday, December 2. The victim sustained non-life-threatening stab wounds and was promptly transported to a medical facility.
The suspect was apprehended at the scene, leading to the school reportedly being placed on lockdown. Witnesses mentioned that students were instructed to seek shelter under tables during the attack.
After the arrest, the man was also taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries while under police supervision. Law enforcement officials plan to conduct an interview with the suspect and have indicated that there is a prior connection between the two individuals.
According to a spokesperson for Victoria Police, a male suspect was taken into custody on December 2 for allegedly assaulting another man at a secondary school in Keysborough at approximately 3 pm.
The spokesperson added, “The victim received non-life-threatening injuries consistent with a stabbing and was promptly taken to the hospital. Law enforcement officers swiftly apprehended the suspect at the scene.”
“The suspect was then hospitalized with minor injuries under police surveillance and is scheduled for questioning by the authorities.
“Preliminary investigations suggest that the parties involved are acquainted with each other. The inquiry is ongoing at this time.”
